This exhibition acknowledges the various types of ‘support’ that exist within the arts community and in galleries. Supporter literally takes place around a timber frame. Previously a wall, the ‘supporter’ is a leftover from a Wandering Room exhibition at South Bank in 2010. Seeing potential in this frame as an interesting object and as a possible new art space, Wandering Room members enlisted help from a few friends and walked the massive thing back to their home.

 

At this new venue, The Box, this scaffolding becomes both a means of hanging an exhibition and an object in dialogue with other artworks, and questions what might constitute a space for an artist?
