THE SHOP

November 2011

S13/14 Grey Street South Bank

It’s called The Shop, it takes place within a shop space, it is situated in a shopping precinct, and has seen the artists consider roles such as vendor, artisan, contemporary visual artist, spruiker, and customer. All artworks involve an exchange between artist and audience whether through performance, an understanding of the artist’s processes or message conveyed, and of course sometimes artworks are bought as commodities. Artists Rachael Archibald, Miriam Carter, Brianne Mackinnon, Liam O’Brien and Alice Lang took these ideas and more on board as they created works ranging from the pain-staking application of tiny crosses to the literal liberating of money via helium filled balloons inside and outside of the studio space.

The Shop will be open from 2pm for perusing, admiring, purchasing, and consuming next Saturday the 12th of November and the closing event (with yummy refreshments) starts from 4pm. Come and visit The Shop the fourth in our The Wandering Room on Grey Street project, at shop 13/14 Grey Street South Bank (diagonally opposite from the cinemas).

By the way doors close at 6.
