WHEN YOU'RE AROUND
December 18, 2009 - January 18, 2010
99 Melbourne Street South Brisbane
'When You're Around' is the first in a series of exhibitions curated by The Wandering Room in the window boxes of 99 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane (next to RawSpace cafe).
The exhibitions will take the form of a salaryman's jaunt to work, an imposition in our public space. The exhibition includes collaborators Kristine Dragland and Peter Bruce Booth, solo artist Isao Yamaguchi, and collective The Wandering Room.
Each window box will feature one artwork. Dragland and Booth explore relational dynamics through video. Found objects, timber, and motors will be assembled by The Wandering Room to mimic associations such as the beating heart and the passing of time. Yamaguchi's sculptural works is concerned with our ever increasing preoccuption with communication and technology.
Throughout the six month life span of the window boxes, The Wandering Room will hand over the reigns to other ARIs and curators. Boxcopy is to be the next cab off the ranks.
