DAVID CREED AND DAVID SPOONER - DAVID/DAVID
November 2011
S13/14 Grey Street South Bank
David/David is an exhibition of paintings by David Creed and David Spooner. Earlier this year the two Davids felt compelled to paint the Brisbane floods en plein air, and this led to them and a couple of other contributors holding an all painting exhibition at the house where they resided in Dutton Park. In the aftermath of that show The Louvers the Davids and a few of their friends began planning for a European cycling trip that was to include painting. The trip involved traveling from Montpellier in France to Venice in Italy by bicycle with painting stops; the three artists who took part were David Creed, David Spooner, and Sarah Werkmeister. The trip took about a month and covered approximately 1500 km. Since arriving back in Brisbane the Davids have continued to paint together on a weekly basis. Beginning Monday the 14th of November, the David’s will be ‘in residence’ at the South Bank space in the lead up to exhibition of their paintings from the European trip and while back in Brisbane.
On Saturday the 19th of November they will open the show with refreshments (including cake) from 6pm until 8pm.
