MIRIAM CARTER AND MIGUEL AQUILIZAN - INCURSION

2011

Dollhouse

In-Cog-Neato

44 Montague Road South Brisbane Queensland 4101

Question: How many jewellers does it take to fill a house? Answer: Two - when it’s a dollhouse.

The Wandering Room is pleased to announce the long-awaited opening of 'Incursion' featuring Miriam Carter and Miguel Aquilizan at Dollhouse. Miguel’s small transformation is big in impact. In the spirit of Kurt Schwitter’s he turns Dollhouse into something akin to a church. In doing so he combines the concepts of baptism as well as religion, incursion and influence. Miriam’s ‘space invaders’ of fine wire knittings, are a subtle assault on the gallery, one that seeks to uncover the meaning of the word incursion.

Come to In-Cog-Neato 'coffee and deadly treadlys' (next to the Joynt) for a 6pm start. Enjoy acoustic sounds and puff pastry as you gaze on the intricate installations of these two artists and sample alcoholic beverages next door!

Dollhouse is supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
