CAITLIN HALSALL - PAINTING BOOTH
May 25 - July 2, 2011
Ryan Renshaw Gallery Window Space
137 Warry St, Brisbane QLD 4006
Please join us at Caitlin Halsall’s opening of Painting Booth for The Wandering Room this Friday night the 3rd of June at the Ryan Renshaw Gallery window space.
The term ‘painting booth’ refers to Halsall’s large-scale constructions in which canvases and objects are used as building blocks, centre pieces and scaffolding pieces to entirely make the structure. Her practice is concerned with ideas related to the studio. The studio’s ‘state of being’ is important and has a relationship to the final painting installation. This ‘space’ is taken from the studio and is transported to the installation site. This process is a re-staged performance.
Inside the gallery is Peter Madden’s exhibition Closer Stills and the Veils of Want and Tony Garifalakis in the project room. Stay tuned for The Wandering Room’s Caitlin Halsall magnets and see you Friday night!
